Notes
Her father, Samuel Rothstein, was editor of "Dos Jidisze Togbłat" and the author of many books. Her mother, Gołda (Gienia), ran a clothing shop at 35 Brukowa Street. Abraham had three siblings. In the ghetto, they lived at 10 Pawia Street. According to another account, in 1939 his father, Szmuel, wanted to take the family out of Poland. When his mother refused, his father left alone for Palestine via Białystok and Vilnius, arriving there in 1941. In autumn 1940, his mother and the children were confined in the Warsaw Ghetto. In September 1942, the family received certificates permitting them to emigrate to Palestine. By that time, the three younger children had already been deported to Treblinka, where they were killed. Their mother met the same fate in January 1943.
