He had green eyes. A graduate of Tacjana Wysocka’s ballet school in Warsaw. Married to Ida (Itka), he was the father of six-year-old Gela. At the start of the war, Heniek moved with his family to Janów Lubelski, believing that food would be easier to come by there. A Jewish smuggler had him transported there to the labour camp in exchange for an exorbitant price for passes. Chaim was very popular in the camp at Janów. He danced, sang, tap-danced to Spanish music, and cheered up the whole town. According to a female escapee from the camp, during the camp’s liquidation the Germans shot everyone on the spot.
