He was a secretary in the Jewish community office. The family ran a haberdashery shop, selling fabrics, materials and supplies needed by tailors and shoemakers. During the ghetto uprising, Naftali hid with his granddaughter Rachel in a bunker at 19 Miła Street. They were deported to Majdanek. There, during the selection, Naftali was separated from the women; Rachel never saw him again.
