- In the autumn of 1942, when Chaim and his brother Majer were not at home, their mother, Chaim's wife and his 1-5-year-old child were taken away for transport. When the brothers returned from work, Chaim decided that they also had to go to the camp, because the women would not be able to cope on their own. They reported to Umschlagplatz. They arrived at Treblinka, where they learned that it was not a labour camp. During the selection, he and his brother were chosen to sort clothes. At the end of the day, they hid, along with 16 other Jews, in a wagon and escaped from Treblinka.
