Notes
The liquidation of the ghetto began on August 20, 1942. The inhabitants were herded into columns and driven towards the railway station. On August 24, Abraham, his brother Charles (Chaim?), and their parents, Herszel and Ester, along with their brother Szymon, were marching in one of these columns. At one point, Abraham and Charles were brutally pulled out of line by a Gestapo officer. It was the last time they saw their parents and younger brother. Herszel, Ester, and Szymon Piasecki were driven onward to trains going straight to the Treblinka extermination camp.
