- Notes
- He was the owner of a shoe factory, several shoe stores, and a tannery. After the establishment of the ghetto, the Germans confiscated most of his property but allowed him to continue running one factory. It produced boots for the German army. Because he ran the factory, Pinkus had excellent papers that for some time protected him and his family from deportations. During the Warsaw ghetto uprising he hid in a bunker built on the grounds of his factory. After the uprising he was sent to Majdanek, where his daughter Stella saw him for the last time through the barbed wire. He was emaciated, shaved, and bore marks of beatings on his face. He died in Majdanek.
