- In September 1942, during a large-scale deportation operation, she was captured with her daughter Stella and herded to the Umschlagplatz. Despite rescue attempts and bribes paid by her husband to Polish and German policemen, Mania was locked in a sealed wagon that departed for Treblinka. "My mother was captured in a round-up on September 10, 1942 and taken to Treblinka."
