Notes
Josek Chaim was primarily a social activist, devoting much more energy and time to this activity than to earning a living for his family. He was the president of many local organizations, including the municipal fire department and the association of tenants and subtenants. These were Polish-Jewish organizations. He was greatly respected by both Poles and Jews. At the beginning of the war, his family returned from Łódź to Bodzentyn, hoping for help from their Polish friends. From there, they were taken to Suchedniów and then by train to Treblinka, where they were killed.
