- Mosze Mileband's sister. "Her family had lived in Warsaw for generations. She married the writer Szlomo Kornblum. She had a stepson, Wacek Izaak (Izia), born in 1926, and a son, Władek (Boruch), born on August 22, 1932. Before the war, as a young girl, she worked in Korczak's orphanage, later in a corset shop in Rymarska Street. Her husband was a writer. The family was so well off that they went to holiday resorts in the summer. At first they lived at 42 Śliska Street, then (in spring 1940) on Niska Street. Their house, at 35 Niska Street, was within the ghetto. The husband began to earn money as a saddler making bags, and she helped him and took products to merchants. Their sons attended secret classes. Later, she worked with her husband in the 'Oszman' szop [ghetto factory] at 5 Ogrodowa Street. Many people visited her house for lunch. At the end of July 1942, during a round-up on Dzielna Street, the whole family was captured and taken to the Umschlagplatz. They were taken out by their cousin Leon Gefen, a baker in the ghetto. On August 27, 1942 during the selection in the szop, she was taken to Treblinka, and this time there was no possibility to save her. Both her sons survived the war on the Aryan side." "Gefen tried to rescue Lonia from the Umschlagplatz. He sent a coachman with a horse there. The coachman saw both Lonia and Estusia already in the cattle car. They stood together and waited for help. All he managed to do was to hand them a loaf of bread and a bottle of water."
