Notes
"There were 370 Jews [in Miasków], both from Miasków and from nearby villages. The Judenrat was chosen and my brother Lejb Śniadowicz was selected the president. [...] A Christian friend came to our apartment on the morning [of 2nd of November 1942] immediately after the beginning of the liquidation action. In one breath he said that my brother Lejb with the whole family consisting of twenty people were taken [to Zambrów]. This included my 80 years old father, my wife with 7 children, younger daughter Sara with her eight days old child and additional family members. [...] On January 10, 1943, during the great frosts, horse carts were prepared for the evacuation of the camp in Zambrów. That night, block by block, almost 3,000 people were deported. The evacuation was carried out step by step, deliberately, so that people would freeze in this harsh frost. Children, old people and women were taken to the Czyżew station, and packed into cold wagons, like cattle. The wagons were wired and without food or drink. These people were taken to Treblinka for two days, where everyone died in the furnaces..."
