- Before the war, he traded in tea. During the war, Leon refused to escape from the ghetto, unwilling to put his children at risk because of his strong Jewish accent and appearance. He was murdered during the great deportation action in July 1942. During the eviction of the building, he was taken outside. Because he was a tall man (which, according to the account, made him stand out as "not fitting" the stereotype), he was pulled out of the group and beaten to death with batons by the Germans.
