- A grocery store owner. Szmuel Epstein ran a grocery store. Initially, he sold cooking oil. The store sold groceries, including fresh produce, butter, and bread. The family made a living from this trade. In 1932, they moved to Warsaw. The store operated until Szmuel's wife fell ill and died in 1933.
