Notes
She perished in the Treblinka death camp. Her son George (Jurek) learned of her fate when, after escaping from a labour camp, he returned to the deserted area of the Warsaw ghetto. A neighbour, Mrs Blumentock, told him that his mother and youngest brother, Meir, had been taken away "very early" during one of the roundups in their tenement building. In his testimony, George (Jurek) Topas states that his grandmother Hinda Chaja Borensztejn and his aunt, his mother’s sister Ruchla Borensztejn, were also with them in the ghetto, and that they too most probably perished in Treblinka.
