Notes
"Brother Lejb and his entire family, twenty-odd people in number: 80-year-old father, wife with 7 children, younger daughter Sara with an eight-day-old baby and others, were taken [to Zambrów]. [...] On January 10, 1943, in great frosts, wagons were prepared to evacuate the camp in Zambrów. That night, block by block, almost 3,000 people were transported and packed in. The evacuation was carried out step by step, deliberately so that people would freeze in the cold. Children, elderly people and women were taken to the Czyżew station to cold wagons, like cattle. The wagons were wired and without food or water, these people were transported for two days to Treblinka, where they all died in the ovens..."
