- Notes
- Jozef Lew lived in the ghetto with his family. His father, Benjamin, was killed in the ghetto. Jozef stayed with his mother and sister, going out of the ghetto to the Aryan side to get food. "One time in the evening I came home and found no one in the whole house. It was at Krochmalna 13, so I immediately went to my uncle, he lived at Grzybowska 16, and my aunt was there too. I said there was no one there, so they told me: 'Listen - they dressed me warmly - don't say who you are, run away to the Aryan side, don't come to us at all and hide until the war is over.' My aunt gave me five zlotys."
