- "This is my aunt, Bela Lewin with her grandson, Oles. I think this informal, family snapshot was taken in Bela’s apartment in Warsaw, in the 1930s. Aunt Bela was the wife of my maternal grandfather’s brother Marym. They had four children. Marym died before World War II and Bela was killed during the Holocaust." "I hoped that my mother Bela - had escaped. She had money, but didn't hide. The neighbors said that she probably died in Treblinka.
