Notes
Mosze and his daughter Hanka were in the Piotrków Trybunalski ghetto. His son Sam, after a period of fighting with the partisans, managed to reach them in 1941. He fell ill with typhus, and his father and sister cared for him. In October 1942, during the liquidation of the ghetto, his father and sister were taken from their home. Sam saw his father for the last time on the ramp. His father said to him: "I know what is going to happen, I can feel it in my bones. Perhaps in the past I tried to be strict with you, but now I want you to do something for me. Please, do me one favour before I go — promise me that you will not become an actor, because that would be a disgrace. And secondly, I beg you, choose one day each year, light a candle, and recite Kaddish for me."
