- Notes
- In the ghetto, he actively helped to support his family – Bart Leon passed him packages through the barbed wire, and Huna crossed over to the Aryan side, from where he returned with money. During the deportations to the death camps, he managed to jump off the train. He made his way to the Karczew forests. Other Jews were hiding there. They were armed by the Polish underground. They lived off raids and "executions" carried out on Germans and rebellious peasants. In early April 1943, they were surrounded by the Germans. Heniek and two friends managed to escape the encirclement. They returned to Miedzeszyn, hoping to hide with Polish friends. They were denounced and handed over to the blue police, who handed them over to the Germans. They were shot in the forest.
