Notes
Wolf Kapłański (pseudonym Wital), began his studies at the School of Art Industry in Vilnius, then in the years 1934-1937 he continued his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius. In 1937, he was expelled from the university for protesting against anti-Semitic acts and moved to Łódź. Kapłański painted realistic but very colorful landscapes of Vilnius ("The Street", "The Courtyard of the Vilnius Synagogue", 1938), the interiors of synagogues ("Kazalnica", "The interior of the synagogue in Urla", 1938), still lives and portraits. Among the portraits, the portraits "Young Girl from the Town", 1935 and "Portrait of a Poet", 1935 deserve special recognition. In his works, Kapłański took up social issues. In 1938, the artist held an individual exhibition in Vilnius. He was also a poet. He was murdered with his children.
