- During the liquidation of the ghetto in Szydłowiec, their mother, Rachel, managed to escape from the transport by pretending to be a Polish peasant woman selling eggs. Unfortunately, in the chaos, she lost contact with her younger children. Chana and Berl were deported to Treblinka; their cousin saw them for the last time at the station, holding hands.
