"Two months before the displacement of Żelechów, in July 1942, a dozen Gestapo men arrived by cab from Warsaw. They called them 'black devils.' They shot several people in Żelechów, including two of my brothers-in-law, David Goldsztajn, who died on the spot, and Mojsze Wajsleder, who received two bullets and was seriously wounded. When the 'blacks' had already left, Moshe called out for help. Immediately Shmul Arn, the 'szmadnik' [baptized Jew], and Moshe Hochman came to him. They drove him home so that no one would notice him. He needed medical attention, but unfortunately there was none. He lay in hiding for three days until a doctor came and gave him an injection. That same night Jankiel Gorfinkel arrived by cab and drove him to the hospital in Warsaw. He did not recover until many weeks later, but unfortunately they later deported him anyway, along with all the Warsaw Jews, to the Treblinka death camp."
