The family owned their own oil mill (oil press) and engaged in tanning. He was a very curious and well-read person, which meant that neighbours often visited him to learn about world news or to read the newspapers he subscribed to. After the Germans entered, they were evicted from their home and placed in the Krynki ghetto. They were then transported to the transit camp in Kiełbasin near Grodno. Ultimately, both he and his wife were deported to the Treblinka extermination camp, where they perished in the gas chambers.
